Since then there has been a Auckland Car Club meeting at Pukekohe on the 27th November and a TACCOC meeting at Hampton Downs on the 11th December. Both days were a bit light on numbers, hopefully only because of the time of year. Classic trial grids always have been good sized. This is an excellent way to get into racing. There are quite a few in the club who are in this series, and do very well, who would be willing to talk to anyone thinking of starting. The AES races were good to watch, with David Metford and Renton Murray having some good battles. Todd Forsyth the same with the Porsche of Brian Yates. Arrow Wheels races had Barry Hare in his Rover, John Munro in his Jag, I keep forgetting he is a MGCC member, and me in the V8 representing the club. Coming up in January, there is the annual Taupo meeting on the 14th and 15th . Always good racing there. Ray Green is back from his overseas trip, so he will be doing the grids. Then the last two weekends are the BMW Festival of Motor Racing at Hampton. There will be a few Touring cars there from years ago along with some of their original drivers. Over the holidays I have been fixing the K3 ready for the next MG Series race. Not much more to finish now. Also I have made a prototype Hover Hoist. Most home garages dont have the room for a conventional two post or four post hoist along with normal car storage. This is a Electromagnetic mat fixed to the ceiling. It has a variable setting to lift the car to any height required. Also as a bonus feature, your work tools can hover anywhere within reach. There is only one down side at the moment, in the event of a power failure you have to run pretty dame fast. Enough dribble from me for this month, Grant Kern |
