Eight MG6 models have been landed in Auckland, New Zealand, and these will be seen on NZ roads in the coming days. Articles in Stuff.co.nz by Dave Moore (January 19, 2012), the China Car Times (January 29, 2012) and the Christchurch Press (January 29, 2012) give a background to what is happening. The MGUK and MG-Rover.org forums also have threads talking about the subject as well. At this time, no details of dealerships or pricing are available. These will appear in due course. In the mean time, all being well, those club members going to the MG National Rally in Masterton will get to see some of them in the metal, as it were. Fingers crossed. Follow British Motor Distributors on Facebook. According to an article in www.goauto.com.au (January 31, 2012), British Motor Distributors is a branch of the Archibald Motor Group. The MG6 vehicles that have been earmarked for export to New Zealand and South Africa are produced with a 118kW (158BHP) turbocharged 1.8li four cylinder engine, with a 5 speed manual gearboxe driving the front wheels. A 1.9li turbo diesel is expected later in the year, along with a dual clutch transmission. Retail rollout in New Zealand is expected in late February.
