Team Waikato Springtime
Picnic
28 Sept 2008
| Sunday 28th
September was a brilliant sunny spring day and also the day of our run to Ngaruawahia for
a picnic lunch. We met on Kahikatea Drive and the first cars to arrive were two MGFs form Auckland. It was not long and we had sixteen MG cars lined up for the run. We also invited the Te Awamutu Classic Club to join us and we had seven of their club cars come along for the run. We had two Fords, three GM and two cousins of the MG, a Mini & a Triumph. Twenty four classic cars made a great sight as we made our way through the Streets of Dinsdale to avoid the busy intersections of our city. Then it was out past the Zoo leaving the City behind as we made our way through the many lifestyle blocks. Then it was through the green dairy farm land and back into lifestyle blocks as we approached Ngaruawahia. Our venue was by the band rotunda where the Waipa & the mighty Waikato rivers meet. It wasnt long and everyone had their cars parked up tucking into their picnic lunch in a very warm Waikato Spring Day. It was the first day of daylight saving and the time disappeared quickly on us and it was back into our cars and off to our adopted Club House for a quick one and some more MG chatter.
