MG Waikato Christmas Run

Our Christmas run for 08 was held on a beautiful sunny day and we all met at the Rototuna Shopping Centre for the short journey skirting the City and back into a Café in the Frankton area.

This run was different than other years, some were planned changes but unfortunately some were not.

The unplanned included three MG’s not going to plan. One MGB luckily went after a push, to many Christmas carols on CD player, but another B appeared to be jammed in gear and had to be towed home.

The third MG an F started making loud mechanical noises on the way over from Matamata and it to could not make its own way home.

One planned change was that the usual written instructions were replaced by coloured photos of each intersection that had to be taken.

Also the leader at each intersection had to stop and become tail end Charlie, this gave a few members the job of being the leader.

The destination was Smo’s Café on Rifle Range Road in the old Railway Buildings.

Snell’s Packaging & Safety supplied the White & Red Wine, which was very much appreciated, to have with our Turkey & Ham Lunch.

There was the usual MG chatter and lots of laughter and a presentation to the Hemmings & Atkins for organizing this year’s very successful weekend trip.

Our raffle lady rewarded everyone for supporting the raffles this year by giving everyone a free ticket with two chances of a prize in the day’s raffle.

Cyril Boot whom we have not seen much lately received our TT trophy from Dave for turning up and passing the meeting place.

The day finished with a photo shoot outside our sponsors premises and then down the road to the Club House for a Fuggle or two.

2008 has been a great MG year with a lot of great MG people, can’t wait for 2009, our tenth anniversary year.

Garry & Lynne.
