| Hi all, First up, congratulations to Graeme Collett and David Metford on their 3rd in class at Targa Rotorua. Good effort Graeme / Dave!! But for this month let's talk about last months events. To start was the joint centre Day Trial in the Waikato. A great attendance with 56 people turning up on a damp and foggy morning to try their hand at navigational trialling. With a classroom session, two trials and a great morning tea put on by the local Toy Library committee, everyone probably learnt something new, had a good cruise in the countryside, and most importantly, didn't get lost! Andrew and I put this down to our skilful organisation, great planning and together with Paul, the great tutorship during the classroom session! Results: Grade 1 trial, Grade 2 trial. Joking aside, the event was a success simply because of the people that turned up and had a go. Trialling is not for everyone, but to hear that people even went back the following weekend to try and understand what they should have done was fantastic. And few will not be looking at road signs or crossroads (or is it cross roads) in the same way again Secondly, was the Mid-Winter Back Country Adventure. The lure of "classic back country roads", "Targa sections" and "gravel options" was too much to miss for many, and the larger than expected turnout for Paul, Bronwyn and CR's event was heartening. Simply put, there would be enough to say about the weekend to fill half a magazine and more than enough photo's to colour the remaining pages. Definitely something that could become a regular part of our calendar. So two rather different events, both very well supported, and around the common theme of driving your MG and hanging out with friends. With the time put in to organising the events, having the support of members makes the effort worthwhile. Before the ink dries on this magazine the Hampton Downs track day will be upon us. All going well, grids will be full and the little challenges with permits will be overcome. And fingers crossed for a nice day. Coming up on 1st August is our first motorkhana for the season to be held at the Waiuku Business Park. See coming events for details.
