MG National Rally - February 2022

The MG Car Club (Otago Southland Centre) Inc. extends an invitation to MG enthusiasts from all parts of New Zealand to attend the MG National Rally to be held in Invercargill from the 24th February to 2nd March 2022.

Yes, it's under twelve months away so it's time to put the dates into your calendars and start planning the trip to Invercargill. We promise you will enjoy the lower South Island while taking part in a varied programme of events. From visiting some of the regions attractions to touring and experiencing our fabulous scenery on largely vehicle-free roads, to a bit of fun at Teretonga Park Race circuit there will be something for everyone.

Rally Programme

Thursday 24 February

  • Rally registration - Welcome meal - Welcome briefing

Friday 25 February

  • Bus tour visiting places of interest in western Southland, including Flax Mill, Ford GT car collection - lunch included

  • Prepare cars for Concours d'Elegance

  • Evening free

Saturday 26 February

  • Concours d'Elegance

  • Invercargill City trial

  • Evening free

Sunday 27 February

  • Western Southland Tour - through Southland to Te Anau for lunch and a visit to a military collection on your way home. A round trip through western and central Southland.

  • Informal evening meal

Monday 28 February

  • Trials day at Teretonga Park Raceway

  • Rally dinner

Tuesday 1 March

  • Free day

Wednesday 2 March

  • Final breakfast - the Rally's over, head for home or join the Post Rally Tour

As an extra option a Post Rally Tour (4 or 5 nights) traversing Central Otago to finish at Highlands Motor Sport Park has been arranged.

Invercargill - Alexandra - Ophir - St Bathans - Hayes Engineering - Wanaka - Hawea - Luggate Transport Museum/car and airplane collections - laps at Highlands Motorsport Park.

Final details on this will be dependent on numbers who are interested and register to take part.

We expect to have final costs sorted after Easter and Registration Forms will be available and sent to Clubs and all who have pre-registered.

Rally headquarters is at the Ascot Park Hotel on the eastern side of Invercargill. All types of rooms are available from motel type to superior suites. If you wish to make early bookings for accommodation contact details are quote MG Rally 2022 with your enquiry. They would appreciate early confirmation of accommodation requirements.
